Murfreesboro has a short list of 5 bids from companies wanting to provide the ambulance service for Murfreesboro.

Rutherford County has ambulance service stations within the city limits that will likely be shut down if the city uses a private company to provide their own service. Furthermore, Mayor Ketron questions what will happen if someone can't afford to pay for emergency transportation if a private company is in charge...

It will be up to the City of Murfreesboro to decide what direction to head as far as starting their own private / public partnership forming a new ambulance service. At this point, nothing is set in stone.
