12th Annual Hammer Down for Habitat Poker Run Takes to the Streets in Motorcycles and Cars this September

Murfreesboro, TN – Get your motor runnin’ and join Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity for their 12th Annual Hammer Down for Habitat Poker Run on Saturday, September 19th. The event, presented by Chevrolet-Buick-GMC of Murfreesboro, will include cars too, from collector and classics to car clubs and anyone who wants to drive for a great cause! The GM dealership will also have a selection of new cars and trucks at the event.

This year’s event starts at 8 a.m. at the Habitat ReStore at 850 Mercury Blvd, in Murfreesboro, with a scenic Middle Tennessee drive through Woodbury, up to Watertown and back down to Hop Springs Beer Park on John Bragg Highway.

Habitat is thrilled to have entertainment provided by nationally known country rocker Rick Monroe, who normally is out touring the country and colleges at this time. Rick has been a big supporter of Habitat over the years. In addition, automotive television show host and body-paint specialist Kevin Tetz will be a Special Guest/MC and feature some of his stunning cars. 

Tickets are $25 per motorcycle/car and $15 per passenger, and include a boxed lunch provided by Zaxby’s, prizes and the entertainment at Hop Springs Beer Park. The event will follow Covid-19 protocols with masks when not eating or drinking, and plenty of opportunity for social distancing in the spacious outdoor concert area at Hop Springs. Drivers will receive a poker hand at the morning registration and additional playing cards along the route, good for a variety of poker hand prizes. Proceeds from the Hammer Down for Habitat event goes to the Front Line Workers Build at Habitat’s new Legacy Pointe subdivision in Murfreesboro. Construction starts in mid-October and Future Homeowner Melody, a home health nurse, will be able to move into her new house in early 2021. Melody has completed 50 hours of Financial Literacy and Homeowner Education to be prepared to sustain her home and mortgage. She will also help build her house and complete 300 hours of sweat equity.
