The Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity (RCHFH) and the three Rotary Clubs of Rutherford County are coming together for the 2nd Annual “Rotary Builds” Habitat Panel Build THIS Saturday, Oct. 10, 9am – 2pm, at Gilsville Family Center in Smyrna (413 Nissan Dr.). The event is hosted by Gil’s Ace Hardware and will include over 100 volunteers from the Rotary Club of Smyrna, The Rotary Club of Murfreesboro, and the Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotary Club.

As the walls are built, they will be used to construct a Habitat for Humanity house in the parking lot! This exciting event marks the second time that all three Rotary Clubs are coming together for a common mission of building affordable housing for Rutherford County residents.

A unique thing about the Habitat panel builds is that all ages can participate, from age 16 on. Participants at last year’s event included several 16-year olds and a 94-year old.

The walls will eventually be moved to Habitat's new Legacy Pointe subdivision community on Twin Oak Drive in Murfreesboro, and construction will start on October 14th for the house for Future Homeowner Demetrice, who will also be on hand during the Panel Build.

In addition to seeing the walls laid out and “touring” the house with Demetrice, volunteers will write words of encouragement and congratulations on the wall studs.

This house is part of Habitat’s Fall Faith Build sponsored by several area churches.
