Authorities need help from the community on a theft case involving storage units.

Evidently, thieves stole property kept at Gum Road Mini Storage. The thefts happened in December and January at the East Gum Road business, a sheriff’s detective reported.

A man driving a red or maroon GMC truck stole a 6.5 horsepower Champion generator from a box truck parked at the business on Christmas day.

The owners obtained photos of the truck that was used to move the generator. The truck was an extended cab truck that had a black hood.

To makes matters worse for the criminal behind the incident, Detective Kyle Norrod with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office says that the truck used in the heist was also stolen. The pickup was apparently taken from a West Tennessee car dealership.

In another case, vandals cut locks and spray painted items at the same storage complex (Gum Road Mini Storage) between Jan. 8 and Jan. 11. Other property owners reported stolen tools and miscellaneous items as well.

If you have information about the truck or the man in the video below, please contact Detective Norrod at 615-904-3043.
