Most recently he was head football coach at North Jackson High School in Alabama where he also headed up the youth league and middle school league.

Blackman athletics director Scott Lawless said, “We are excited about the energy and passion that Coach Tygard will bring to our program. We believe our players will thrive under his leadership and uptempo style.”

Tygard started his career as a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee. He then continued in college football at University of the Cumberlands and Missouri Southern State. He also worked with the Edmonton Eskimos with the CFL.

Principal Leisa Justus said, “Coach Tygard’s organization and structure stood out among an excellent candidate pool. Add to that his drive and passion for the game and his love for kids, and I know he will be a tremendous asset to our faculty, staff, and school community!”

Tygard is a national speaker on culture for modern high school students, and is an analytics consultant.

He is recognized by his peers as innovative, playing an uptempo style of football. His high level of organization and structure has contributed to his success. We anticipate him being a great ambassador for the entire Blackman Blaze community and will embrace collaboration among all levels of our football program.
