UPDATE: “Hours of Service Waiver” Issued in TENNESSEE to limit disruptions to fuel transportation

The State of Tennessee has activated an Emergency Operations Center in Nashville that is staffed to monitor weather, road conditions, and address any life safety needs… This news in as the state previously announced that Tennessee is listed as being in a “State of Emergency,” due to the current weather conditions.

On Wednesday morning at 6:45, the windchill in Rutherford County made it feel as if it were 8-Degrees with the actual temperature sitting at a chilly 16-Degrees

Another round of winter weather with accumulating winter precipitation is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. There is an active Winter Storm Watch for Middle Tennessee effective Wednesday afternoon through Thursday (February 18, 2021).

Gov. Lee has issued an “Hours of Service Waiver” to limit disruptions to fuel transportation. The declaration waives federal safety rules which include limits on the number of hours a driver can operate. This allows commercial truck drivers to make more fuel deliveries and fuel can be transported over longer distances to help elevate the shortage.

Weather Outlook:

WEDNESDAY (2/17/21): A 40 percent chance of snow showers, mainly after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 33. North northeast wind around 5 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.   

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Snow showers and sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain before midnight, then freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet. Low around 29. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

THURSDAY (2/18/21): Rain showers, freezing rain, and sleet likely before 2pm, then rain likely, possibly mixed with snow showers between 2pm and 3pm, then rain showers likely after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 35. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible. 

THURSDAY NIGHT: A slight chance of rain showers before 7pm, then a slight chance of snow showers between 7pm and midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. North northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.   

FRIDAY (2/19/21): Partly sunny, with a high near 30. North northwest wind around 10 mph.
