MTSU Testing Tornado Sirens

Mar 01, 2021 at 11:31 am by WGNS

MTSU will continue its “first Monday” tornado–siren testing schedule for the 2020-21 academic. In fact, you may have heard tornado sirens on Monday morning at 11:20am (March 1, 2021).

MTSU tests its tornado sirens on campus and at the Miller Coliseum Complex each month, weather permitting, to ensure their proper operation. Each test lasts only a few moments, and safety actions aren’t required.

Again, tests were conducted on Monday morning at 11:20 (March 1, 2021).

The monthly day and time were chosen to help reduce distractions for classes and community neighbors.

The university will continue to notify the campus community before these monthly tests via social media, emails and posts at MTSUNews.com.

If the test date falls on a university holiday, the department will conduct the test as scheduled.

MTSU’s campus community can prepare for emergency weather anytime by checking the university’s list of recommended shelter sites, tornado preparation suggestions and frequently asked questions at http://tinyurl.com/MTSUTornadoShelters.
