Rutherford County got quite the surprise on property tax payments…

That was Rutherford County Trustee Teb Batey. Luckily, the $20-million shortfall on property tax payments was only brief. It turns out, the lack of payments was the result of the snow and ice storms that hit Middle Tennessee.



Again, after the backlogged mail finally came in, the Trustee’s office was ahead in property tax collections by about $10-million.

On a side note, the final day to pay property taxes without penalty was February 28, 2021.
