Another round of severe weather is in the forecast for today (Thursday).

The severe outlook for Rutherford County is a level four out of five from the Storm Prediction Center. They're a branch of the National Weather Service tasked with forecasting severe weather events. There is a rare high risk or five out of five on the threat level in southern Middle Tennessee. This has the potential to be a significant weather threat. Damaging winds of 60 miles per hour or higher, tornadoes, some long-tracking, and flash flooding are in the forecast. The National Weather Service says all of the severe weather threats are possible between 2pm and 10pm Thursday.

Morning rain cleared and left behind sunshine. As a warm front moves through, expect continued destabilization of the atmosphere and leave us with conditions favorable for severe weather.

Rain will also be heavy at times and WGNS Weatherology Meteorologist Derek Heit says a Flash Flood Watch is in effect:

Have multiple ways to receive warnings and go over your severe weather plans. Know where you'll take shelter if under a tornado warning.

Stay with WGNS and our Weatherology team of meteorologists as we continue to fine tune the forecast for Thursday.
