WGNS Continues to follow the COVID-19 trend locally and it appears as if the COVID Pandemic continues to show a slowing trend.  This is important news as this time last year (2020), COVID was at a peak.

Dr. Dan Rudd in Murfreesboro stated…



Rudd said that the number of people receiving the vaccine has been growing, which has also led to a decrease in the number of positive COVID cases.

Rudd also suggested that more people likely had COVID, but never realized it…



Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that mutate and every time they infect someone, multiple mutations can come from that one infected person, according to Dr. Rudd…



To date, there have been 809,692 positive COVID-19 cases in the Volunteer State and 11,866 deaths. Rutherford County has recorded 40,685 positive cases, which accounts for 5% of the total number of cases in Tennessee. There have also been 407 deaths in Rutherford County, tied to COVID-19.
