Local Non-Profit Collecting School Supplies for 100 Local School Children

Local non-profit Barnabas Vision is in the process of collecting school supplies to fill 100 backpacks for 100 children in Rutherford County. Volunteer Hillary Hodges stated…

Between now and July 28th, financial donations and new school supplies can be dropped off at the Barnabas Vision office at 141 MTCS Road in Murfreesboro. 

Some of the donations needed:

• Financial Donations
• Paper Folders with Brackets
• Plastic folders with prongs and pockets
• School Supply Boxes (to hold pencils, etc)
• Children’s Scissors
• School Glue Sticks
• Dry Erase Markers
• Highlighters
• Notebook Paper
• 1 and 2-inch Binders
• Boxes of 12-Color Pencils
• Boxes of No. 2 Pencils
• Crayons

Barnabas Vision has already purchased 100-backpacks for students in grades K thru 12th, with most being in elementary school and middle school. Hodges told WGNS there are only a handful of high school students receiving backpacks.

Again, you can donate to the back pack drive up until July 28th. Volunteers will hand out the backpacks on August 2nd. To volunteer with Barnabas Vision or to make a donation, you can stop by their office at 141 MTCS Rd. in Murfreesboro or call 615-556-5134.



School will soon be IN SESSION:

Rutherford County Schools start with an abbreviated two hour day on Friday, August 6th. The first full day for county students will be on Monday, August 9th. 

Murfreesboro City Schools:

AUGUST 6: Half Day for Students Grades 1-6
AUGUST 9: Grades 1-6 Students, First Full Day
AUGUST 10: Grades 1-6 Students, Second Full Day; Kindergarten, Half-Day for A-L
