The Atlanta Braves are World Series champions for the first time since 1995.

Ben Ingram on the Braves Radio Network with the call as the Braves defeat the Houston Astros 7-0 in Game 6 to take the series, 4-2. The Braves, who won the title at Houston's Minute Maid Park, were paced by an offensive onslaught and a gem from left-hander Max Fried in the title-clinching win.

Atlanta jumped out to a sizable lead thanks to two multi-run home runs early in the game. Jorge Soler delivered a massive three-run blast in the third inning to put Atlanta up early.

Then, in the fifth, the Braves plated a pair of runs on a Dansby Swanson homer. A Freddie Freeman double later in the fifth (and then a homer in the seventh) gave the Braves what proved to be an insurmountable 7-0 lead.

The Braves’ 1995 title team had a haul of Hall of Famers -- manager Bobby Cox, rookie third baseman Chipper Jones and the great rotation of Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz -- to guide it to the Promised Land.

This 2021 team had to go about things a bit differently.

Atlanta frantically added underrated outfield options after Ronald Acuña Jr. crumpled to the warning track with a torn right ACL, then relied heavily on the bullpen when the World Series rotation was upended by Charlie Morton's fractured leg.

Atlanta completed a mathematically improbable journey to Tuesday’s champagne bath. The NL East champs didn’t have a winning record until Aug. 6, and they had the lowest win total (88) of any team to reach MLB’s postseason this year, including the Wild Card clubs. The Braves are just the eighth sub-90-win team to win a World Series in a non-shortened season.
