The Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity (RCHFH) with three Rotary Clubs of Rutherford County will gather for the 3rd Annual “Rotary Builds” Habitat Panel Build on Saturday, February 19, 9am – 2pm, at the Lane Agri-Park, 315 John Rice Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN.
A unique thing about the Habitat panel builds is that all ages can participate, from age 14 up. Rotarians can sign up with their Rotary Club for 1-hour shifts and work hand-in-hand with other Rotarians as well as the Habitat Future Homeowner, Alexandria.
After this event, the walls will be moved to RCHFH’s Legacy Pointe subdivision community on Twin Oak Drive in Murfreesboro, and construction will start February 23 on the house for Future Homeowner Alexandria, who will also be on hand during the Panel Build. In addition to seeing the walls laid out and “touring” the house with Alexandria, volunteers will write words of encouragement and congratulations on the wall studs.
The Panel Build will end about 2:30 p.m. with a group photo of volunteers prior to loading the walls for transporting to Legacy Pointe. This house construction is funded by a donation honoring Norman “Tricky” Ross McDowell. A grant from General Mills, as well as proceeds from Hammer Down for Habitat and Cookin’ To Build events help with additional building costs, which have increased about 40% over the past year.
