(MURFREESBORO) Rain and public safety concerns prompted the cancellation of Saturday's (5/4/2019) JazzFest festivities on Murfreesboro's downtown square.
Organizers cited Saturday's projected forecast for heavy rain and the potential for damaging storms throughout the day.
Main Street Murfreesboro Director Kathleen Herzog said, "We are so disappointed that Mother Nature didn't' cooperate with us this year."
She noted that the Saturday event will not be rescheduled.
Great Entertainment Friday
The weather didn't hamper JazzFest's Friday (5/3/2019) night schedule of Future Jazz Greats. Crowds gathered on the square for a successful evening of jazz presented by area high school bands.
Herzog continued, "We were relieved the bad weather held off long enough to give these young people a chance to share their talents. That's always a highlight of our annual JazzFest event."
Special thanks to the Central Magnet School Jazz Band, Siegel High School Jazz Band, MTCS Jazz Band, Siegel High School Lab Jazz Band, Oakland High School, Riverdale High School Jazz Band, Blackman High School Jazz Band, Smyrna High School Jazz Band, and the La Vergen High School Jazz Band for performing on Friday.
Still in the mood for downtown music soon? Main Street's Friday Night Live summer concert series concert series kicks off Friday, June 7 at 6:30 pm on the square!
