A Murfreesboro man has been charged with stealing guns from a Shelbyville home.

The incident reportedly happened around 1:00 o'clock Friday (1/26/2018) afternoon when Jesse Caldwell allegedly had a scuffle with a homeowner on Forest Avenue in Shelbyville.

Reports from Shelbyville Police indicate that the homeowner returned home to find that his place had been ransacked and two guns were missing.

Reportedly, while checking around his home, Jesse Caldwell appeared and pointed a pistol at the homeowner and demanded his car keys. A scuffle occurred and the Murfreesboro man allegedly fled on foot. Shortly after that a white KIA Optima was taken from a nearby home on the same street.

Around 1:30 Sunday afternoon (1/28/2018), Murfreesboro Police booked 23-year old Jesse Caldwell into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

In Murfreesboro, Caldwell faces driving on a revoked license (first offense) with $1,000 bond, escape the custody of an officer (a felony) with $5,000 bond; and evading arrest in a motor vehicle with $5,000 bond. He is also being held for the Shelbyville Police, where he faces other charges.
