48th District State Representative Joe Car addressed a Core Rally on Nashville's Legislative Plaza around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. The Rutherford County Republican senate candidate called on Senator Lamar Alexander to join with Tennesseans to stop Common Core.

Carr said, “The fight to repeal Common Core is a struggle for the future of our children’s education and Senator Alexander is not only refusing to join the fight against it. He is even unwilling to take a clear position.  As I travel the state I continually hear from parents about their concerns with how the implementation of Common Core will affect their children."

He described Common Core as, "Yet another opportunity for liberals and the Washington D.C. bureaucracy to tell us how to raise and educate our children rather than leave it under local control."

The Lascassas resident is opposing incumbent Senator Lamar Alexander. They are both running as Republicans.
