Johnny Majors Passes Away

Johnny Majors, a legendary player and coach at the University of Tennessee, has died at the age of 85.

Majors compiled a 116-62-8 record while leading the Volunteers from 1977 to 1992. He played tailback for the Volunteers in the 1950's where he was named SEC Player of the Year twice. He was also runner up to Paul Hornung for the Heisman Trophy.

The Franklin County native played high school football at Huntland, where he played for his dad Shirley Majors. The stadium at Huntland High School is named after his father after they won the state title in 1951.
