Maria Johnson will be taking over as principal of Scales Elementary School in January. This comes after current principal, Don Bartch, was recently named principal at the city's newest school, Overall Creek, which will open next school year. He was named principal of the new school last month and will assume those responsibilities after Christmas break. Johnson has been an assistant principal at Scales since July of 2012. She was formally a teacher and administrator at Simpson Elementary School in Kentucky.
