Ken Shipp Dies at 83

Just last month Ken Shipp made a $1-million gift to his alma matter. He presented the check to MTSU President Sidney McPhee (left).

Murfreesboro resident Ken Shipp passed away on Monday. Shipp is a former college and NFL coach. Shipp was 83. Shipp was a 1947 graduate of MTSU and once coached with the New York Jets, St. Louis Rams and New Orleans Saints, where he was the quarterback coach to Archie Manning. Shipp also coached at Florida State, Miami, South Carolina, Tulsa and Trinity University.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Jennings and Ayers.
