State Farm Insurance reports that local non-profit Murfreesboro Cold Patrol has received a $25,000 grant from the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program.
In Murfreesboro, only one non-profit made the cut. That non-profit is Murfreesboro Cold Patrol, which serves homeless in our community not only in winter months, but on a daily basis. If they receive the grant money, the goal is to put a full time case manager on the streets of Murfreesboro.
Democrats in our area are helping to collect 1,000 pairs of socks, 100 pairs of long johns, 1,500 hats and 100 sleeping bags. The items will be used throughout the winter season by homeless living in Rutherford County.
BoroPride, an event celebrating and recognizing those who are part of the LGBTQ community, took place on the Murfreesboro square Saturday evening.
