With temps in the pleasant 50s, around 6:00 o'clock Friday night, thousands packed the inner circle on the east side of the Rutherford County Courthouse for a Christmas gala and lighting of the community Christmas tree.
The event starts with the Rutherford County Christmas Tree Lighting with Santa Claus and "LIVE" Reindeer at 6 this Friday night on the Historic Downtown Square.
The original courthouse was built in 1813. A new, larger courthouse was then constructed in 1859. In 1860 the bell tower and clock were built.
