Kroger Motorized Shopping Cart Theft in Murfreesboro

It was a slow speed chase of sorts for Murfreesboro Police and the loss prevention worker at Kroger on Lascassas Pike this past week. Apparently, a 30-year old man stole a motorized shopping cart from the store.

Police caught up to Leonta Martez Summers as he headed down Northfield Boulevard - while driving a motorized shopping cart. Officers reported that he had slurred speech and an odor of intoxicant. The official arrest report showed, "Mr. Summers advised that he took the shopping cart because it was there."

The Hillcrest Drive man was charged with theft over $1,000 and public intoxication. He will head to court, but not in the motorized shopping cart, on August 8, 2017.
