A man has been arrested in connection with suspected arson at his La Vergne home. 30-year old Eric Sharpe is charged with setting his Forest Ridge Drive on fire late Friday night. Reportedly his girlfriend and two children were in the home.

Preliminary reports indicate that Sharpe was injured when he jumped from the second floor of the home. Neighbors told police they saw the neighbor chasing his girlfriend on foot as she sped away. Her vehicle clipped the brick mailbox while exiting the driveway.

Only the family dog did not make it to safety, and the home was a total loss.

Eric Sharpe was charged with aggravated arson, domestic assault, three counts of reckless endangerment and animal cruelty. He was booked at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center with bond set at $38,000.
