Sgt. John Eubank of the La Vergne Police Department completed one of the most prestigious law enforcement training programs in the nation this month, graduating from the FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Virginia.

The program is internationally known for its academic excellence and offers 10-weeks of advanced investigative, management, and fitness training for selected officers with proven records as professionals within their agencies.

"We are very fortunate to have a police officer of Sgt. Eubank's caliber in our local police department," said Police Chief Mike Walker. "I offer my personal congratulations to John for being part of the elite one percent of officers in the nation who qualify for this distinguished program. I have full and complete faith in his professional capabilities. He is one of the most skilled law enforcement officers in the La Vergne Police Department."

Sgt. Eubank has been a part of the LPD for eight years and in law enforcement for nine years. He is on the Honor Guard, firearms training division, tracking team, SWAT team, and he is the division commander for the Crime Suppression Unit. Sgt. Eubank previously served in internal affairs and the criminal investigations division.‎ He holds a B.S. degree in criminal justice from Bethel University and a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. In 2011, Sgt. Eubank was selected as Crime Stoppers Officer of the Year.

"I am very proud of Sgt. Eubank," said Mayor Senna Mosley. "He is a great example of the quality of employees we have working for the city on behalf of our citizens. I have full confidence in Sgt. Eubank and am proud that he has selected La Vergne to protect and serve."

FBI Director James Comey spoke at the graduation ceremony where 210 officers graduated in the 257th Session of the Academy.
