(MURFREESBORO) The person who died of gunshot wounds on Labor Day (9/2/2019) is 18-year old Kendrick Maurice Moore, who just graduated from Stewarts Creek High School. Another shooting victim survived. That 17-year old juvenile was treated and released on Tuesday (9/3/2019) from Vanderbilt Hospital.

As you recall from earlier reports, shortly before noon on Labor Day morning, police responded to a shots fired call in the 4800 block of Laura Jeanne Boulevard. The first unit on-the-scene discovered a deceased male in the parking lot of the location.

While en route to the shooting scene, a Rutherford County Medical Emergency Services ambulance was flagged down by occupants of a vehicle on Florence Road near Manson Pike. A passenger in that gold Saturn was suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics began treating the 17-year old male, who was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Again, he was released from Vanderbilt Hospital on Tuesday.

All of this was happening within minutes of each other. Another car was fleeing the shooting scene and caused a four-vehicle crash at the intersection of Medical Center Parkway and Thonmpson Lane.

The driver and passenger of the silver Toyota Camry LE that crashed were arrested in connection with the homicide/shooting. Those 16 and 17 year old juveniles were arrested with juvenile petitions and charged with murder and attempted murder. Both are in custody at the Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center.

The occupants of the gold Saturn on Florence Road were detained, and interviewed as witnesses--and then released.

The homicide and shooting are being investigated by Murfreesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division. THP is investigating the crash.
