Lascassas Market robbed at knife point, suspect CAUGHT

A store clerk robbed at knifepoint obtained the license plate number of the suspect as he drove away, allowing Rutherford County Sheriff’s detectives to locate the suspect within 14 minutesThursday afternoon, supervisors said.

Suspect Jonathan Ownby, 31, of Esquire Court , was charged with aggravated robbery of Lascassas Market after being apprehended at his home, said arresting Detective Jim Tramel (see picture of Ownby below).

Detective Sgt. Dan Goodwin said the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and a package of cigarettes. As the suspect left, the victim obtained the license plate number of the getaway car and gave the information to Deputy Michael Moody. Telecommunicators gave deputies the owner’s name and address.

Detective Steve Brown responded to the address within 14 minutes where he found a car matching the description of the suspect’s car parked at his home on Esquire Court off Compton Road . The suspect looked out the window.

A team of patrol deputies and detectives apprehended the man identified as Ownby into custody. They took him to Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office where Tramel interviewed Ownby and charged him. He was booked into the Adult Detention Center where a hearing was set March 11 in General Sessions Court.

Maj. Bill Sharp of the Criminal Investigations Division thanked Murfreesboro Police for responding to the home.
