With the Miss La Vergne pageants right around the corner, the city is hosting a free workshop for girls who want to wear the crown.  On Saturday, August 31 at 3:00 p.m., girls who are registered for the pageants can learn how to walk in a gown, get tips on answering the on-stage question, and be coached on interview and public speaking. There is no fee to attend the workshop.

The pageants are being held at La Vergne High School on Saturday, September 7. Little Miss La Vergne is at 1:00 p.m., Young Miss La Vergne at 3:00 p.m., Junior Miss La Vergne at 5:00 p.m., and Miss La Vergne at 7:00 p.m.

The pageant is open to girls who live in or attend schools that serve La Vergne students. For example, all students who attend Rock Springs Middle School and the new Stewarts Creek High School are eligible because La Vergne children are zoned for those schools.  In addition, children who have immediate family (parent or grandparent) working for the City of La Vergne or its contract employees are also eligible to participate in this pageant.  This pageant is not an open pageant.

“First and foremost we want the girls to have a good time,” said Mayor Senna Mosley, “Pageants also provide a unique opportunity for families. I have heard from parents who use the pageant to spend a day pampering their daughters. The girls don’t have to win to feel like queens when their parents and guardians make it special for them.”

The pageant entry deadline is Friday, August 30 at 4:30 p.m. and the fee is $25 to participate. There are some pageant dresses available at City Hall at no charge to girls who are registered. The free workshop will be held in the Board Room at City Hall.
