LaVergne Library Taking FOOD in Exchange for Library Fines

The “Food for Fines” program at the La Vergne Public Library will run between December 2 and 14. The program is designed to collect non-perishable, unexpired food items to help feed the hungry. The added bonus is that people who have unpaid library fines will get $1 credit toward the money they owe for every qualified food item they donate.

Library Director Donna Bebout encourages food donations from everyone, “Even though those who owe money have the opportunity to zero out their fines, everyone who gives is participating in a great cause – feeding the hungry. We are donating most of the food to our emergency services departments who are spearheading a ‘Christmas for the Kids and Seniors’ program right here in La Vergne. All extra food will be donated to the local food bank.”

  • Individual Mac & Cheese, puddings, fruits

If you can donate food items, stop by the library located at 5063 Murfreesboro Road on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. or Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
