The LaVergne Police Department was one of the most recent departments to receive an M-RAP vehicle similar to the one's owned by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and the Murfreesboro Police Department. M-RAP stands for Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle. The vehicles were used in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. Some never went overseas while others that did, have less than 20,000 miles on them.

The vehicles come from the Department of Defense. Law Enforcement agencies across the United States can get them for free, but have to pay the shipping for them.
