LaVergne Police seize 7-pounds of marijuana

With a search warrant in hand, the Narcotics/Vice Unit and SWAT Team of the La Vergne Police Department confirmed a grow operation on January 18 at 334 Sarna Drive. Police entered the home and seized seven pounds of marijuana and 15 harvested plants.

Martin Ward, 42, has several charges pending against him, including: felony maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of distributing narcotics, felony possession of marijuana, felony manufacturing of marijuana, and felony Schedule 3 steroids and hydrocodone. In addition, Ward will be charged with possession of misdemeanor drug paraphernalia, including papers, scales, grinders. Police seized one vehicle, a Ford Fusion, 400 pieces of sports memorabilia, and $1,800 in cash.

“The narcotics detectives work hard to disrupt the distribution illicit narcotics in our city,” said Chief Mike Walker. “We have served seven search warrants in the last few months and have made arrests in every one of them. We want to be very clear that if you are involved in illegal drug sales in La Vergne, we will find you and you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Police will consult with the district attorney about the charges pending against Martin.  No other people are expected to be charged.
