The people wishing to serve as aldermen for La Vergne will have the opportunity to share their vision for the city in an upcoming candidate forum. The League of Women Voters is hosting the forum on October 8 in the Board Room at City Hall.

Two alderman seats are currently up for election on November 4, positions currently held by Chris Farmer and Sherry Green. Both are seeking reelection and Melisa Brown, Jason Cole, David Driggers, and Calvin Jones are also running, according to the Rutherford County Election Commission. The aldermen forum is scheduled at 7:00 p.m.

The position of mayor is also currently up for election. Senna Mosley is seeking reelection and Dennis Waldron is also running.

"This is an important election for LaVergne and we want to make sure that voters are given the opportunity to hear the views of all candidates seeking office because their decisions will impact the city for many years to come. The League of Women Voters hopes the forum will encourage voters to get out and vote. The League of Women Voters wants you to understand the power of your Vote," said Judy Powell, voter service chair of the League of Women Voters Murfreesboro/Rutherford County.

A big screen monitor will be set up for overflow seating next to City Hall to give people the opportunity to meet with the candidates after the forum ends.

The forum will air live on local access Channel 3 (Comcast), Channel 99 (AT&T), and will live-stream on the city web page under Services Channel 3. The forum is also being recorded for future air dates and will be uploaded to the YouTube channel operated by La Vergne.
