It was a big day at Centennial Park for the many teams who took part in the annual Buddy Walk benefiting the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee. Over a hundred teams participated in this years event. The Buddy Walk is the primary fundraiser and advocacy for the association. The money raised goes to benefit the various programs such as the First Call program that provides care packages, education, and support for families with a new diagnosis of Down Syndrome. Mother of a child with Down Syndrome, April Booten says she and her husband were devastated when they got the diagnosis but Bennett is the best thing that's ever happened to them. Her advice to new parents is, "Don't waste your time on the tears or worrying. Just embrace it." She is thankful for her little hero, "Super B," along with friends and family who have supported her family the whole way through.
