A local homeless man, who was found unconscious outside PetsMart on Old Fort Parkway, is now in jail after reportedly trying to bribe a police officer with heroin. Fifty-five year old Christopher Prestenbach was alert when police arrived on the scene around 7 o'clock Sunday night. Police report he smelled of alcohol and witnesses report seeing him fall in the parking lot. Prestenbach was taken to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital for evaluation. When he was cleared, Officer Ernst reports he was still "very intoxicated." When Prestenbach was taken into custody, while enroute to jail, he allegedly asked the officer to let him go, to not arrest him and he could give him some heroin. Prestenbach was charged with public intoxication and bribery of a public servant and booked on a $4,250 bond. He'll answer to the charges in General Sessions Court on November 20th.
