Division II hears one-half of all Circuit Court criminal cases filed in Rutherford County and all of the Circuit Court criminal cases filed in Cannon County. If elected, Nichols would be the first prosecutor to become a circuit court judge in decades.

Nichols currently prosecutes a wide-range of criminal cases in Division III of Rutherford County Circuit Court. Prior to becoming an Assistant District Attorney, Nichols worked as a Criminal Investigator with the District Attorney’s Office in Rutherford County and also as a Deputy Circuit Court Clerk in Cannon County. Nichols describes himself as a “Conservative Constitutionalist, and a no-nonsense prosecutor that seeks justice in every case.”

"I am honored to fight alongside our dedicated law enforcement professionals on a daily basis in our community's war on crime,” Nichols said. "While my experiences as a prosecutor have shaped many of my beliefs, if elected, I promise to be fair, honor and obey our Constitution, and impartially apply the law as written."

Nichols also represented District I as a member of the Cannon County Commission from 2006 to 2010.

Nichols, a resident of Rutherford County's Blackman Community, is a member of the Church of Christ and the Rutherford GOP and has served as past chairman of the Rutherford GOP's Issues and Government Relations
Committee. He previously served as Republican Party precinct captain for the Blackman community and is a member of the National Rifle Association.

Nichols, a Cannon County native, received his Juris Doctorate from Nashville School of Law and was awarded his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Middle Tennessee State University.
