Local resident and musician Floyd “Ne-hi” Leonard has passed away. In the forties, fifties and sixties, Leonard was a significant part of Carl Tipton and the Mid-State Playboys band and did a "live" radio show on WGNS from a different local business every day.  Leonard was recently on WGNS this past November and explained how he got the nickname “Ne-hi.”

One of the locations of where the Mid-State Playboys played in the late 1940’s was at Buddy Norris and Stanley Leverette’s Mobil Oil gas station. In 1948, the gas station was on the corner of Maple and Lytle Streets.

Visitation will be at Woodfin's Chapel in Murfreesboro on Thursday between 4-8 p.m. The service will be on Friday at 11 a.m.
