Wade wrapped the pistol in a cloth and attempted to lower the firing hammer when his finger slipped and the pistol discharged. The bullet went into the 55-year old's left thigh.

Wade was driven to Murfreesboro by his brother Wayne to the Murfreesboro V.A. Hospital. He was then taken to St. Thomas Rutherford by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services.

Vaughn reports contacting a Macon County deputy, who advised he would be taking a report based on statements relayed to him and detectives would be notified today (Monday).
