Main Street Murfreesboro Well Supported:

MURFREESBORO - An Evening on University was an entertaining night filled with new faces, familiar supporters of downtown, and a mix of historic and hip all packed into the 106-year-old Colonial-style home at 205 N. University Street. Lacey and Kirk Garrett graciously opened their home to approximately 100 supporters of Main Street on November 5th to promote Main Street Murfreesboro's annual fundraiser.

The home was built around 1913 by Will Bell, the oldest son of the Bell family who ran a jewelry store on the square. Many supporters of Main Street stopped by to reminisce about their memories living or visiting friends in the home over the past years. Lacey and Kirk awed guests with their retro style amid mid-century modern accessories. Guests enjoyed appetizers from Tasty Table and desserts by Olive Branch Bakery while admiring the one-of-a-kind modern mural of squiggly lines that wrapped around a mid-century dining table and antique buffet. Entertainment was provided by a student trio from Central Magnet's stringed orchestra. Over $6,000 was raised for Main Street to benefit the projects and programs coming up in 2020.

Evening on University's purpose was to celebrate becoming a "supporter" of Main Street Murfreesboro. Guests donated a requested $50 to help invest in the mission of Main Street, "to maintain, enhance, and promote the historic downtown as the heart of the community." If you were unable to attend the celebration party you can still send in your year-end, tax deductible gift and become an official "Investor" of Main Street for 2019. When you join Main Street, you help with the revitalization of our historic commercial district and protect the assets that make our community unique. Your financial investment in Main Street will help ensure that established programs continue, including the free events hosted by Main Street such as JazzFest, the Friday Night Live Concert Series, Saturday Market, and the Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting. It will also help as we expand programs in the future to focus on Economic Vitality of our historic downtown.
