It’s the best summertime entertainment value in town. It’s Main Street’s Summer Party, A Taste of Rutherford, scheduled for Saturday, June 28, from 7 to 10 p.m. Reservations may be made by calling 615-895-1887 or sending an email via www.downtownmurfreesboro.com.

Just $50 per person buys a delicious meal prepared by some of the county’s best chefs, an open bar and live music. The site for the event is The Blue Porch, home of Wanda and Donnell Thompson, 9570 Vaught Road in Readyville. The former bed and breakfast is a scenic spot for the outdoor party, which is Main Street’s primary fundraiser each year.

The music will be provided by local band Casual Exchange. Already signed up to provide food for the delicious buffet are: Maple Street Grill, Five Senses, Chuy’s, Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q, The Parthenon, The Hamery, Slick Pig, Marina’s On the Square, Reveille Joe Coffee Co., Boro Town Cakes and Alex Belew Catering.

The Main Street program is one of the reasons that Murfreesboro’s downtown is such a vibrant community hub, and the nonprofit organization needs your support. Main Street annually brings you JazzFest, Friday Night Live, the Saturday Market, the Christmas Tree Lighting, Trick or Treat on the Square and so much more. Attendance at THE Summer Party, A Taste of Rutherford, is one way you can give back to the community.

The Main Street Program is affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s National Main Street Center and follows the tenets of that program. Main Street capitalizes on the unique character of the courthouse square and the surrounding business district with the goal of transforming it into the cultural, social, professional and retail center of Rutherford County ... in essence, the hub of community life.
