A suspect wanted for allegedly raping a 3-year-old girl was apprehended Wednesday in Nashville by U.S. Marshals and the Rutherford County Sheriff's Fugitive Apprehension Unit.

Suspect Jonathan Chambliss, 19, of Charlotte Pike in Nashville was nabbed after an investigation by the U.S. Marshals in Houston, Texas, and in Nashville, said Rutherford County Sheriff's Detective Chuck Thomas, who is assigned to the U.S. Marshal's Task Force.

Sheriff's Detective Jason Dowdle said Chambliss was indicted on one count of aggravated rape of a child and one count of aggravated sexual battery.

Chambliss allegedly raped the girl during a family gathering June 14 in the Blackman area, Dowdle said. Another family member apparently witnessed the act and notified the Sheriff's Office.

The suspect was believed to have moved to Texas so the U.S. Marshals in Houston developed information and learned he had returned to Nashville. The U.S. Marshals and Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit located him.

Chambliss was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where Circuit Court Judge Royce Taylor set bond at $300,000. Chambliss is being held while awaiting a hearing Nov. 10 in Circuit Court.
