Man assaulted in City of Murfreesboro Parking Garage

A 36-year-old man was assaulted in the City of Murfreesboro parking garage on Wednesday evening around 5:00. The parking garage is at the intersection of South Church at Vine Streets in the downtown area.

The victim told police that he was approached and surrounded by several young men, one of whom struck him in the face with what he thought was a skateboard.

Police wrote in the report, "[The victim] was beaten unconscious and when he woke, the subjects were gone." An older female in the parking garage later helped the victim when he came to.

When police arrived the man had two black eyes, abrasions to his face and a shoulder injury. The man said the attackers appeared to be in their late teens.

No arrest has been made at this point and there is no word on what sparked the attack.

Sgt. Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Dept. stated, "The MPD has increased patrols of the parking garage and civic plaza. Anyone with information about this assault should call Crime Stoppers at 615-893-STOP(7867)."
