After a hit and run crash was reported in Murfreesboro on NW Broad Street at Memorial Boulevard in recent days, police tracked down their reported culprit. 44-Year old James Richard Coffelt was apprehended shortly after the person he allegedly ran into followed him.

The complainant told officers that Coffelt rear-ended him and then fled the scene. The accident victim decided to follow Coffelt until police could make contact with him. While the accident was only minor, the charges that followed are quite serious.

Coffelt told police that he only had two beers before leaving work. Police later looked in his vehicle where they found only one open can of beer and a whiskey bottle. After Field Sobriety Test were conducted, the subject was arrested on a DUI charge and he was also charged for the 5th time for Driving on a Revoked License. The subject was booked under a $3,250 bond and later released. He will appear in court on October 21, 2014.
