Murfreesboro Police are looking for a man who floored the vehicle, bailed out and fled after a traffic stop. Detective Christopher Gann and Officer Tchezaray Major were attempting to stop a 2003 Silver Hyundai Santa Fe with Steven McGriff inside. They had a sealed indictment for his arrest.

The detective said the vehicle initially stopped in the F&B Trailer Park on Brinkley Road around 6:30 last Wednesday. When Gann announced he was under arrest, McGriff accelerated toward the dead end street, left the car in gear and fled on foot.

An occupant in the vehicle was able to stop the car just before it hit a trailer. Meanwhile, McGriff was chased into the woods. He was seen a couple of times by other responding officers, but has not been found.

In addition to the sealed indictment, McGriff is wanted now for reckless endangerment, evading arrest and driving on a suspended license. If you have any information, contact the Murfreesboro Police Criminial Investigations Division or call CrimeStoppers at 615-893-STOP.
