A man claiming to be the half-brother of another man in Rutherford County has reportedly stolen over $10,000 from the victims’ checking account.

The victim told officers that he allowed this so called “half-brother” to spend the night at his house and that was when his checkbooks were stolen. Over a period of about 5-days, the half-brother withdrew over $10,000.

The victim has yet to see any of the money returned to him and police are looking into the matter. The half-brother allegedly found the victim and the victim’s brother on FaceBook about 5-months ago. It is not known if the suspect is a con artist or if he really is a half-brother. No arrests have been made.
