Man scammed on CraigsList in Murfreesboro with fake cash

Be careful when selling items to strangers through CraigsList.

A Murfreesboro man told police that he was scammed while selling his iPhone on the popular classifieds page this past Monday (1/30/17). The victim said that the buyer handed him three one hundred dollar bills that he discovered seconds later, were fake.

After the buyer took the iPhone, he darted off on foot and headed towards Campus Crossing Apartments. The suspect was gone by the time police arrived. However, he was caught on a surveillance video at a gas station. Police also have the subjects cell phone number, which had a Memphis area code of "901."
