Man who allegedly stole from local store reportedly used his drivers license to return the merchandise
A man who allegedly stole about $900 worth of merchandise from the Home Depot store in Murfreesboro reportedly came back to the store to return the items several days later. When the computer system at the store denied the return, the man once again left the store with the Home Depot property, according to a police report.
A Loss Prevention worker at the store told officers that when the suspect attempted to make the return, he used his own driver’s license number. Needless to say, he was not hard to track down. As it turns out, he was arrested in Nashville for theft. Metro police records show that the Gallatin Pike resident was charged with theft of merchandise. Charges in Murfreesboro against 49-year old James Phelps have yet to be filed.
