A now former Uber driver in Murfreesboro who was charged with the rape of a 22-year-old woman he picked up in 2015 was recently in Circuit Court.

43 Year old Emmett Nelson Lyons, Jr. was sentenced to spend the next six years in prison after pleading guilty to Aggravated Sexual Battery.

The woman who Lyons reportedly picked up was intoxicated and leaving a friend's home in Murfreesboro when the incident occurred.

A friend of the victim called for a ride to transport the victim to her residence, which was when the Uber driver showed up. Instead of taking the victim home, Lyons (Uber driver) drove her in an alternative direction and attacked her inside the vehicle.

A friend who was following the Uber app to find out if she made it home noticed the driver was not headed to her address. At that point, the friend quickly headed to the victims' home where she was met by the 22-year-old woman who appeared to be distraught and injured.

The case was investigated and the driver of the Uber service was arrested and charged with rape.

Prior to driving for Uber, Lyons had multiple arrests for assault, forgery, driving on a suspended license and theft.

Again, Lyons was sentenced in a Rutherford County Courtroom this week to spend the next 6 years in a Tennessee Department of Corrections prison. The man plead guilty to Aggravated Sexual Battery. He will be 49 years old when he is released from prison.
