A Dayton, Tennessee man who was convicted of possessing between 10 and 70 pounds of marijuana in Rutherford County in 2014 has been rearrested.

Randy A. Sharp's sentence ended on January 21, 2017 for the 2014 conviction. But, on March 12, 2017 he was re-arrested in Murfreesboro for a similar incident. However, he allegedly had much less marijuana with him this time around.

27 Year old Sharp was pulled over by Murfreesboro Police on the 12th of this month for a window tint violation. Sharp was the sole occupant of the Chevrolet sedan he was driving on Kingwood Drive near Memorial Boulevard.

During the traffic stop police asked Sharp if they could search his car. Despite the request, he said no and a police K-9 was called in.

A police dog named Mia alerted officers that drugs were in the trunk of the car. A probable cause search led police to a backpack in the trunk that reportedly had 10.9 ounces of weed in it along with a 40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun that was loaded with ten rounds.

Needless to say, Sharp was arrested and taken to the county slammer. He was charged with possession of a schedule six drug for distribution, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia. The gun and the marijuana were seized as evidence along with cash that was found to be in Sharp's possession and his cellphone. He was booked under an $18,500 bond. He is scheduled to be in court on June 7, 2017.
