Medical Marijuana still being talked about by local lawmakers

Talk of medical marijuana in the state of Tennessee continue. State Representative Bryan Terry, who represents a portion of Rutherford County, said that a bill by one lawmaker may be revisited that focuses on cannabis research...

The bill that died in 2015 called for the tracking of medical marijuana from seed to distribution. It also required those who were prescribed marijuana to have a special registry card with the state.

One bill in question for 2016 is already gaining ground and has nothing to do with the medical use of marijuana. Senate Bill 2321 is now in the hands of the Senate Judiciary Committee and allows for municipalities to decriminalize possessions of one ounce or less of marijuana. The bill has yet to be signed by the governor.
