Meeting about a new park in Murfreesboro to be held on Jan. 24th

The Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to an open house to discuss the proposed West Park on a 123-acre parcel of land bordered by Blackman Road, Burnt Knob Road, Veterans Parkway, and I-840 in the Blackman area known as the McDonald Farm property.

In 2016, City Council purchased a 123-acre parcel of land bordered by Blackman Road, Burnt Knob Road, Veterans Parkway, and I-840 in the Blackman area known as the McDonald Farm property for the development of a park in west Murfreesboro.

In November 2016, Council authorized moving forward with a park master plan for development of the West Park. Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. and a team of architectural and design companies will coordinate a community visioning effort, including workshops, focus groups, and community meetings. The team will also conduct surveys, base mapping, preliminary concept development, architectural concepts and a final master plan. Staff will be present to answer any questions.

The open house is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Blackman High School, 3956 Blaze Drive, Murfreesboro, TN, 37128.
