Memorial Day Traffic Crashes Claim 5 Lives

NASHVILLE - The numbers are in from the state Department of Safety on the Memorial Day travel period. Five people were killed on Tennessee roadways during the holiday weekend. None of those deaths occurred in Rutherford County. The number is down from the 10 fatal crashed reported during the same holiday period last year. During stepped up traffic enforcements, including here in Rutherford County, there were over 150 suspected drunk drivers arrested statewide. Around 15-hundred seat belt violations were also handed out by Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers.
